Default Tips llifting the engine up

Well tomorrow my motor mounts come in and I am aggressively waiting to get my notch on a roll. I got a cherry picker just dying to pick cherries. One thing though, I was discussing with my dad the procedure with my two manuals going about changing the oil pan gasket (chilton & haynes.) Anyways he brought up the tail shaft which neither of the manual discuss. I busted out my geometry beliefs about the tailshaft and said it probably wouldn't matter, he said on his mustangs (60s) he always disconnected the tailshaft whenever thinking about lifting the engine, anyone know if I should? It really isn't hard to do, but one less thing to do. Ohh I'll take anytips for oil pan now except for the idea of dropping k-member.

I'd disconnect the tailshaft and pull off the driveshaft, as for the oil pan, you can use a cherry picker to jack up the motor a bit and drop the pan... you cant jack the motor from underneath to do the oil pan but you could for motor mounts... jmo good luck

how do you aggressively wait for something? Are you sitting arround snarling your teeth at the door?

What do I do with the steering rack after I disconnect it from the steering shaft? Do I set it somewhere? It is still connected to the power steering. Chilton tells you to rest it, only place to rest it is on the k-member which that is where it is mounted?

Yeah I just got a cherry picker from my neighbor. So I am just waiting for my motor mounts to arrive which I ordered yesterday morning. Summit is so friggin fast, too bad I had to go to 50resto to get oil sending unit + gasket, and some clips for my trunk molding. I still am agitated how I cannot get that starter off (the top bolt,) but since I am selling my GT I am going to swap headers (my BBK's in my GT.) Therefore I'll get plenty of room to use the wrench since the flanges around the bung are in the way. WISH ME GOODLUCK! Thanks for all your help... It's too bad I still have to wait until friday to get the rest of the junk from 50resto therefore my car really isn't going to be done until then.
