do ceramic headers really lower eng. bay temps.
I know there are a million posts about headers, but i am goin to buy ceramic coated bbk shorty equals and was wonderin how effective they really are at reducing engine bay temp. how much cooler will i actually run? Right now i sit at 195 and would like to be at 180-185 will these do it?

i run around 160 to 180 depending if i am driving down the highway or cruising around town. on really hot days it may creep up to 190-195 sometimes 200 just depends if i am doing alot of stop and start. yes they do cool down alot faster then normal headers

^ agree, the headers disipate heat better when ceramic or jet hot coated as opposed to chromed metal, the chrome absorbs the heat and holds in it, but the headers will not affect running temp of your vehicle, you want to be in the vicinity of 180-200 degrees while in closed loop. A 180 t stat will open at 180 but engine temps are slightly higher than that... if your concerned with overheating headers will not help you out, get a 180* t stat and 3 core radiator. But the ceramic headers are worth the money, they cool faster and look better!

the main thing about coated headers is to keep the heat in them to SPEED UP the exhaust flow,,
