Your 89 with stock internals would be limited mainl by the block. I would not put over 125shot on it, but 75 is pretty safe as far as juice goes. I dunno...me no likey juice.

As far as the shortblock is concerned, I've sprayed 250hp on plenty of high mileage 5.0s. I have friends that have sprayed 300hp on them. At that level they tend to push a lot of head gaskets though.

If you're talking about an entire stock EFI motor, I'd limit it to 150hp with a stock intake through a nozzle. I'd recommend you limit to 175hp with an aftermarket non-Ford intake (Holley, Edelbrock, TFS). I personally do 200hp through a nozzle regularly, but you better know what you're doing. If you're using a plate, spray until the block splits.

Stock block splits around 450whp...thats the general consensus.

Not with a main girdle. Ask anyone who has been around long enough and they will tell you that 450whp is the limit for long-term survival and you need a spot on tune.

wow... amazing how one of the racers in my state with a 5.0 fox S/C manages to keep his car together at 530hp.... maybe its because the number is a theoretical barrier that is passed around by those who are uninformed, much like yourself. The 5.0 block can handle ALOT of power, howerver it is all dependednt on the quality of the build, the precision of the tune, and ofcourse, the nutball driving it.

Exactly, he asked about a STOCK 5.0, not a balanced/blueprinted one. THAT is the deciding factor.

Do you think I'm some kind of new kid on the block? I don't need to ask anyone here. I have been around long enough to know. I'd had 26 foxbody Mustangs. I've done nitrous, supercharger and turbo cars and have made power will all of them. I will take a bone stock 5.0 and spray more nitrous through a single stage nozzle kit to it than your H/C/I car can dyno. Does over 5 years of 500+rwhp on a stock Ford hypereutectic shortblock sound good? How about from 1994-current (70k-something miles to over 263k) with 150-250hp of nitrous on a weekly basis 10 months out of the year without even changing so much as a head gasket on an original '87 GT longblock? I sold that car last November with 263k on it. It's still going strong.
