Stock 5.0s in the 13s?

Hey folks. What's your take on people who talk about mostly stock 5.0s running in the 13s? I've even heard some cats on this site (MF) say that. What do you think of the timeslips on this website?

For those who don't know, you can scroll through dozens more timeslips at the bottom of the page. Are they trustworthy?

seen it happen a handfull of times with some very minor mods... alot of factors at play in this, track prep, weather, elevation, model, driver, state of car...etc etc. alot of people seem to be very skeptical about this, i don't know why, probably because they went at a badly prepped track situated at 2500+ft elevation on a blazing hot summer day and saw a bunch of badly driven stock auto GT convertibles run a mid-low 16 ...and then figured they'd call BS on anyone claiming on hitting anything better than a high 14[&:]. the track i go to is at 224ft and is extremely cool during spring and autumn. it's very well prepped and it's nothing out of the ordinary to see a 5spd notch hitting 13s with some DRs, exhaust and a decent driver.

that's my take on it... take it for what it's worth.

if all stock i ran a 14.7 w. a 60 of 2.3... put some DRs on it... launch it lightly get a 1.8 or maybe a lil lower so 60 and there ya have it... high 13 run. its all in the track prep...and mostly driver i guess... it can be done... i dont doubt that at all...

I personally have seen a guy do a 13.2 on a stock motor lx notch. He did it with no more than the air silencer plucked, a set of longtube headers, some upper/lower control arms, 4.30 gears, and a 28 inch slick. He is also a hell of a driver, but this can definitely be done.

Theres a guy at the Ford dealer down the steet that runs in the 12's in his cobra, not sure on the year, but its 99+. The only things hes got done to his ride is a gear and a bunch of suspension upgrades.

Is it an 03-04 Cobra? If so, they run 12.8's stock.

a new gen cobra has nothing to do with this post? lol..

fox's very well can run 13s stock, if it wasnt beat all its life and the track is good and you can drive..it will happen, my track is the worst of all worst, motor was decetn but high miles, and i went 14.71 stock, with a horrid 2.38 60 foot, so a 1.9 on slicks = high 13s
