Default For the AOD guys.

What do you guys prefer? A built aftermarket AOD such as a lentech or taking a stocker and having it built by a tranny shop??? Which is cheaper?

A local tranny shop is not going to be as good as a Lentech. But it won't be as expensive either. Just avoid Art Carr.

For a daily/weekend driven street car, what would you suggest doing FullAuto?

id just save some money if you got a local shop you know or have a lot of experience with racing transmissions or aods, they will do there best, cuz it will still be a dam good trans

I'd just buy a good valvebody from Lentech or PA and have a local shop build it.

I'm kinda bored and I was thinking that whenever I get the money I can take the AOD out of my vert (it's got a shot OD band anyways and it hasn't been driven since February), get it rebuilt, take the AOD out of the hatch, replace it with the built one, and throw the stocker into the vert. See what I'm saying?

i built mine better internals with ford racing gear ratio kit..a manual vb kevlar band and clutches...for what a lentech cost with out the gears... but i had a aod with all perf parts,vb,shift kit, stall, for less then a lentech..lentech is good but just so much you can do to a aod...there fairly simple trannys...just becuz a name brand is buildin them dont make them better..a kevlar internals are same no matter who makes it..

I bought a SuperStreeter transmission from Performance Automatic (www.performanceautomatic.com) and am happy with it, $1299. chirps tires when it shifts at WOT... haha
