Less voltage when alternator gets hot.

Less voltage when alternator gets hot.
I've been noticing (ever since I bought my car) that my running and idle voltage drops once the car reaches full operating temperature. When I first start the car everyday, it puts like 14.5 volts above 2 grand. After driving for like 20 minutes, it puts out like 14 volts above 2 grand...and slightly less if the A/C or headlights are on--as indicated on both my stock gauge and my Autometer gauge. It's like my alternator is becoming heat soaked. I'll probably hit it with a digital voltimeter to check the voltage at the battery terminals, as I've checked it in the past, hot, and it was over 14v. My question is: Is this lowering of voltage when hot normal?

RE: Less voltage when alternator gets hot.
Twisted, I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have noticed, (and this is by stock guage only), that after driving for a while, my alternator tends to put out a LITTLE less voltage. I have 2 12" subs in there right now, but even before I had those in, my guage would be just over 14 when it first started, then when it reacher operating temp, it would drop down just under 14. As I said, take it for what its worth...
