Default battery prob? car keeps dying.. help!

So the battery on my car read .091 volts..... no lights worked.. car wouldn't turn over. jumped it..still did NOT work..... a little bit later it went to 7 volts then to 13... went in the car started it and it went on.. idled for about 5 mins then EVERYTHING shut off.. the lights and the car.... turned the key and nothing.. bad alternator? bad battery?

Well this is easy to determine... first, test the battery... get oneo ff a friend/girlfriend/parent's car and see if it does the same thing.. if so, the battery is not the problem. Take off the alternator and take it up to autozone. They can test it for you to see if that is the problem.

ah damnit forgot to mention b4 when i jumped the mustang with my neon it still didn't work.. and when i shuit the neon off and tried to start it 30 secs later it would Not start... letting it sit for about 5 mins it started.

when your car was running, it would have been a good
time to measure the voltage across the battery. if the
alternator is charging properly, the voltage should be somewhere
over 13 - 13.5 volts. if it's not, then the alternator needs to
be checked out...

Make sure your getting a good ground on the battery. I had a problem tonight were i wasn't getting a good ground and my car died. I would not get anything after it happened. No lights at all.

i'm no alternator specialist, but 13 sounds low to me

I believe 13.75-14.25 is the proper output range. Sounds like a battery to me, try a different one and see.
