Default How to quiet the stang down some?

The stang is fine for going out racing and whatnot, but definitely not for cruising, or taking the wife out. It's headers, OR Hpipe, to 2.5" duals into flowmasters, ends before the rear end, no turn downs or anything. Loud is an understatement. Will I sacrifice HP/TQ by lenthening the exhaust or what do you guys recommend to quiet the car down?

putting tails on it will make it quieter and you'll gain a few ponies

Really? How's that? Are you just talking tails or like mufflers as well? I also thought I heard I couldn't fit 2.5" OD pipe OVER the rear axle?

putting tails on will help with backpressure gaining a few ponies, whoever told you you cant fit 2.5 tails over the axle is dumb thats what I run. Mustangsunlimited just sells tails

you can fit 2.5" pipes with no problems.....unless your me and have an anti roll bar mounted over the rear axle and have a fuel pump mounted in front of the gas tank.

go to any exhaust shop, theyd love to take your flowmasters off and trade em in for ultra quiet mufflers and charge you lesser.

You need nothing else, just ultra quiet mufflers.

better yet have the work done and sell the flowmasters on here

usually its the other way around, i agree the best way would be to put a set of 2.5" tailpipes on, you could always put on electric cutouts the kits $300 from summit!
