Max Width Tires

RE: Max Width Tires
Do you mean stock supension set up?
I know you can fit a 265/50/R15 on the stock ten holes (rear wheels) and if you got to an 8 inch wide wheel, you can fit a 295/50R15 but I would advise you to roll the inner fender lip so it does not gash/scrape the sidewall.
I had 295/50's on my '86 with Weld Draglites...

Looking at new tires and wheels for the 89' LX Hatchback. What's the max width I can run with stock setup? 275?

I missed this part earlier....yes, a 275/60R15 will fit. It is the equivalent of a 28x10.

RE: Max Width Tires
basically what i'm getting at, is what's the max.... I want the widest I can fit under the fenders without tubbin' it.... so i'll run as wide a wheel as I need...I'd like to run 315s or 335s... is that possible? I don't want to rub at all, but I want the widest I can fit without any modifications (aside from something very very minor)...

From what I understand. To run a 275 series tire, you will need to pull the quad shocks(this also means getting aftermarket lower control arms) and a an 8 in. wheel. I am not to sure of the backspacing. Some people seem to have to roll the inner fenders while other have no problem. I don't know about a 315 and up. That is a big tire. Hope this helps a little.
