Default sythetic motor oil

When i got my 331 built i put mobil 1 synthetic motor oil in the car. I heard its not good to do that on the first oil change because with the sythetic oil it doesnt allow the rings to seat? anyone know anything about this? i do get smoke out of my exhaust so im wondering if thats whats going on. Will it hurt my car if i go to regular motor oil for 3000 miles?

+1. Go back to crude, and hope that your rings seat. Good luck.

Yup...synthetic shouldn't be used until after the break in. Also, on a new motor build, you should change the crude every 500 miles or so to be safe. Not 100% necessary, but will save you any heartache if you catch problems early.
