One thing to remember about the 87-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe rear ends.. If you use the entire rear end, housing, axles, etc.. Where the quad shocks bolt to the axle; do not use the stock mounting location. Instead, drill a new hole about 2 inches lower from the original in the bracket. The geometry on the Turbo Coupe is a little different. If you use the original mounting holes, the quad shocks WILL bind and cause your rear stance to go up 2-4" (everyone remember the stink bug look??) and completely defeats the purpose of the quad shocks. Drill new holes, sit right, handle right. $.02 worth for ya.

RE: 4 lug rear disc brakes
Forgot to mention..it's a real easy swap, everyone has pointed out the .75" width difference and the gearing, remember you'll need to make some changes under the hood as well, different (or modified) proportioning system at the very least. The rear calipers' demands for fluid and pressure are not the same as a pair of wheel cylinders. If you continue to use the stock master cylinder and proportioning valve your pedal will feel soft and your braking will be worse than before you made the switch to rear disc.

RE: 4 lug rear disc brakes
thanks for the info, i'm going to use the original stang rear end, just swap the axles and brake stufff, any suggestions on a master cylinder and proportioning valve setup to use?, anything that handles all wheel disc? i'd prefer buying a used setup for the sake of money? lol thanks

RE: 4 lug rear disc brakes
Depends who you ask as to what setup is recommended.. here's a link; http://mjbobbitt.home.comcast.net/mustang/4lug.html this guy seems to have more than enough opinion on what to do for hydraulics. The last swap I did, I switched hard lines from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve to come up with the right fittings and used the PV from the TurboCoupe. It feels good on the foot and seems to be balanced on the road. Good luck. Adam.
