tell me why again i cant put an x303 cam in my car its a pretty stock 86 gt but with an 89 block and afr heads

Valve reliefs. The x303 is pushing it. I can say it will fit in an '89 GT, I have one in mine. The '86 didn't have reliefs in the pistons though.
When you said block, is the rotating assembly with it?

If it's a '89 block + '89 pistons you may be OK but, check Ptv...don't skip this step....it's REQUIRED to make sure. The X-303 is a B-303 with more lift ....lift doesn't affect PtV, it's the OVERLAP period that you have/need to check...... http://www.fordmuscle.com/fundamentals/pistontovalve/
