Hey guys. I have a 95 GT Vert 5 Speed COMPLETELY STOCK. Now when I take off from a stop or like 5mph it hauls azz. But when I'm doing like 60 and I drop it down to 3rd or 4th it feels kinda blah... Is this due to the stock gears??? Or do I really need to get some H/C/I??

Sounds right about par for a 95 GT

What RPM are we talking when you downshift? Could be out of your powerband. Sounds like you have a lot of low end TQ but lose it at the higher RPMs (which is expected.) Then again, I don't notice it because I'm running a completely different setup on my 95. Having 3.73s gets me into teh powerband much faster and helps me feel the HP / TQ a bit better.

i would start with gears, they are considered the "best" mod for your buck by most people. If that doesn't cure your needs, then look into a h/c/i combo. I assume the cars running well? and has recently been given a standard tuneup? So this isn't related to a tune issue? good luck

Problem is.. the 95 GT is a dog, LoL. I have a 95 GT vert and when it was stock, it's was just one heavy dog. A few mods later though and it can run with the best of them.

Yea...Nitrous, Methanol and a Supercharger! lol I find that so funny, you talk about your car like it has a "few mods" like it has a freakin intake and manifold on it lol

First you should start with your driving, at 60mph you should be able to hit 2nd not 3rd and definitly NOT 4th. When I had stock gears, I could wind 2nd all the way up to 70/75mph, wind 3rd to 115, 4th to 140, 5th to 170ish. Its that youre not in the ideal gear for the rpm's. BTW, thats also a good way to fry your clutch. Dont be scared to rev your motor to 5500/6000, theyre a ok with that.

Yeah the guy I purchased the car from has a tuneup done recently. It runs really good thats why i'm not going to build a new motor and just work on this one. I think the 95 has 2.73 gears I'm not sure if that affects top end or not..

Yeah then at 60 definitly hit 2nd, granted youre going to be up in the r's (around 4k, just a guesstimate). And with that 2.73 you might even be able to hit 80 in 2nd .

LMAO, never thought of it that way. I guess I'm too used to people around here where I live asking. When people in my area ask, I will also tell them I have a few mods. Sometimes it's followed by "like what?" So I just tell them that I changed some piping to alter the way the air flows. It makes the air cooler and it's more efficient. I also changed my pulleys. he object it to be honest, but to be vague, LoL. They will most likely assume that it's a CAI because it would alter the airflow and cool the air. Of course, in reality the air flow is being "altered" by 10 pounds of boost, and it's "cooler" because of methanol, lol. And the pulleys would be the ones needed for the S/C. So if I'm lucky and they're stupid, then they assume I have a CAI, UD pulleys, and flowmaster exhaust. I never mention the nitrous or the gears at all.

Man I love being underestimated, LoL.
