Default 1:7 rockers on stock head

i may be able to get a good deal on an upper and lower gt40 intake and some 1:7 rocker arms. will these arms work on a stock 5.0 head without the piston hitting the valve? it currently has an E303 cam in it. i cannot afford new heads and thought that if i put the gt40 intake on it might breathe a little better if i put the rocker arms on while i was in there. 89LX.

With .498 lift of the E cam and 1.7 rockers, you might run into some ptv clearance issues. I'd probably go with some 1.6s. Of course, you could always run a clearance test (clay) to see if you're hitting.

but will it work well with the stock heads? will it make more power than if i just used the gt40 intake alone. i can't change the heads right now because of cost constraints

He's running E7s though, not GT-40s. He just has the intake.

You will be fine with the 1.7s and E cam though, go for it. Just a question though, why not wait? If you're gonna take the top end apart anyway, you might as well wait until you have enough cash for some GT-40s and do it all at once. They can be had for dirt cheap.

I think the E cam is the largest you can go with 1.7's without new pistons. Your combo will idle like crap and have no torue till 2500rpms. Plus with stock valve springs I'd worry about valve float.
