Benefits of a shift kit?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what are the benefits of a shift kit? I don't manually shift my aod but would it still be worth it?

Yeah, it's still worth it. Once you feel it, you'll never want to run an AOD / AODE without it. It makes the shifts harder and firmer. On my AODE, it will actualyl chirp the tires and throw me back in my seat a bit when shifting from 1 - 2. Then when it shifts again from 2 - 3 it will throw you back even ahrder (but doesnt chirp unless the road conditions are right.)

Either way, you'll love the way it feels. Only way to describe it is fast, firm shifts into gear.

Or get a street/strip valvebody. Than you can either have the trans shift by itself or throw it in first and manually hold each gear until YOU decide to shift it. And you can get a really nice valve body from Lentech or PA for like $200-250 bucks.

Yeah, you can drive it like normal by putting it in D if you want. Or you can manually shift through the gears. It's easy to do with an AODE as you can hold it in 1, 2, or 3 as long as you want. With an AOD it takes a little more effort.

I've heard people having problems with their bands wearing out really fast after installing their shift kits...not sure what that's all about.

careful about trying to get the most out of your aod when using manual gear selection. the 1-D-1 shuffle isnt good for it at all
