Got computer codes but dont know what they mean!

Got computer codes but dont know what they mean!
Hi my fellow mustang fans!
I was just wondering if someone could help me translate what the codes I retrieved from my mustangs computer mean.
I dont remember the codes, but I do remember I looked them up a while ago, and one of them was "fuel system is lean"
the other code was "transmission speed checker malfunction." What the heck do these mean. The who reason why I did
the computer diagnostic is because my mustang was pinging during very hot summer days. It does not ping in cool and cold
weather. I checked the timing, and it was a 2 degrees!!! I tried 91 octane and still pings under hard accelaration and under load.
Temp needle never even reaches half, so I dont know what is going on. EGR seems to be ok.
here are some slight mods:
MAC cold air intake
BBK shorty headers
MAC catback
(when I bought the car, the dude said it had a shift kit in the tranny) Oh, and the tranna is AOD
Any Ideas for the pinging and what the codes mean????????
any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Another question is, is it true that you should ALWAYS put motorcraft spark plugs, and NOT bosch?????

try setting it between 10 - 14

Well, I dont know how to check the timing myself, but a guy who does flashed it with a timing light, and told me it was at 2 degrees. We put it at 10 degrees, and the pinging did not change for best or for the worst, so he said that it would be safer to keep it at a lower degree for now, untile I figure out what the real problem is, but I still cant find out what it can be, and I quite frankly getting tired of it. The codes only read "fuel system is lean" and "transmission speed checker malfunctioning". I'm gonna clean the MAF and change the oxygen sensors to see if that fixis the pinging. If not, then I just dont have an Idea of what else to do.
