Default What backspacing and whatever do I need to run 275's?

I've removed the quad shocks and am looking at buying a set of wheels/tires.

They have these 4 sizes available.

15x8
15x10
17x8
17x9

I either want to run a 275/50/15 or a 275/40/17, what do you guys think?

Also, my car is now 5lug/rear disc, from a 94 GT. I currently have 94 GT 17x8 wheels on, but I'm not sure of the bolt pattern and offset needed? Or backspacing, whatever its called.

This is going to be a track car/weekend driver, so should I bother w/ 10" wheels out back? I don't think I can fit any wider than 275's out back, and 245's up front, am I correct?

Thanks guys.

Using 94 spindles? Seems like they are a little longer than fox axles. If that's the case, 15x8 on 5.5" bs would work good. Might have to roll the fender lip and do some massaging to the inner fender though.

I kinda like how my 245/45/17's look like now, with the tire size. So is there any advantage to going with 15's over 17's?

15x10 youll need a 6.5 inch bacspacing!! 15s are the way to go! you will def have to beat the inner fenderand roll your quarters! good luck they will be fine! idrive every day with my draglites 15x10 in the back 15x5 in the front easier than 15x3!

More sidewall.

More sidewall.

Which gives me....? Better traction? Better ride? etc? Care to explain why more sidewall is better?

And if I can get 275's on an 8" wide wheel, why would I go to the 10" wide ones? Just curious...

I just thought of something, can I even fit 15's over the front brakes? My brake setup is 94 GT, they came with 16's...

You can hit the tires harder with a larger sidewall as apposed to a low profile tire. DRs don't exactly wrinkle like a slick, but the sidewall will "cushion" a little of the blow before it blows the tires off. Buddy of mine was running 17" DRs and went 1.80 60'. Switched to a 15" DR (same brand) and went 1.69.
