I am assuming you have a 5.0, what year is it and what mods do you have?

If he wont go to the track, then that should tell you something. What does he want, a roll off?

being a past Lightning owner I will give you some advice here.

A stock Lighning with Nitto DR can and has run, I have seen it 13.03 in the 1/4 mile. I have seen another Lightning with a slightly small upper and no other modifications run in mid 12's. Unless you are running very low 13's or in the 12's I would not try it. WIth the weather getting colder, he is going to get faster at a faster rate than you with cold air. Those Eaton blowers LOVE the cold air. On a cold day a stock L should only see 8 psi but some have seen up to 10 psi because of the air. If you want any type of advantage, do not race from a dig, he will eat you alive! At least 400 rwtq @ 3200 rpm is pretty damn powerfull. I had my stock Lightning put down 379 rwhp 459 rwtq on a cool morning. If he knows anything, he has learned how to launch it, I learned very fast in mine. Here is the trick, race from a 20 mph roll if you want the advantage, he will down shift into first and light the back tires up. If you race from about 30 mph, he will down shift to first and be gone. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

p.s. I seriously doubt he is stock, out of all the guys over on SVTP there is only like 1 or 2 that are still stock. Very easy to hide a pulley sway on those things, I got many people that thought I was stock after I modded mine.

I say race him anyway as long as your not putting anything on the line. What are your mods?

oh I almost forgot, he can go buy a predator tuner, hook it up and make another 15-20 rwhp and ~20 rwtq with the 93 octane tune. The are de-tuned from the factory for 91 octane. The tuner will bump up the timing and change the A/F to wake it up a little. If he put a K&N filter the box air filter he just gained another 1psi of boost good for 10 rwhp and 15 rwtq. Told you they are sneaky little bastards.
