need to hook up
I have a 91 5.0 with all the basic bolt ons. I have not ever ran at the track because i rost tire all of first gear even if i ease into it. i raced an srt-4 the other day and he wanted to go from a dead stop, i fishtailed all over the place but he still didnt pull on me i think if i could hook up i could beat him bad. i currently have a nice set of firestone tires on the stock 16 inch rims the tires have about 85 percent tread on them, i want watever tires i buy to be street legal and i dont want to take a risk of breaking the rear or anything else. should i just let some pressure out or is there some sort of bad *** tire out there that i dont know about?

RE: need to hook up
gets some upper/lower control arms, 50/50 rear shocks, subframes and a set or mickey thompson ET Street Radials ($400)! What rear diff gears do you have and are you 5 spd or auto? If your 5 spd w/ 3.73 or 4.10 you will spin on most street tires through 1st and the better part of second unless you feather the throttle.... jmo tires tires tires... thats all i gotta say

RE: need to hook up
no not really, usually when i punch it in first the tires start spinning and the rpms jump to like 5000 and i just wait for the tires to stop spinning so fast and somewhat catch, once they some what catch then the rpms will drop back down a little and then when they get back up to like 5500 i shift

RE: need to hook up
i agree w/ 7up only i would try up the bfg drag ta thats what i did. i also lowered it, kyb agx 8 position shocks plus upr adjustable uppers and lakewood traction bars and polyurithane bushings. with 4.10 gears i hafto go all the way to the floor to break them free a little bit.. i love it!

RE: need to hook up
well thank you for all of your advice, by the way, how much do you think it would cost for the sub frame connectors control arms tires and shocks, and is this really the cheapest way to go for me to get traction

RE: need to hook up
well, i'd get subframes regardless of traction issues, you can get a real good set of Maximum Motorsport Weld In ones for $150 shipped, get full length, and buy weld in ones, the bolt on will loosen and be a waste of money....and then tackle tires, if $$ permits then venture down the suspension road... good luck and be careful street racing, find a local track to race at!

Ideally you should get subframe connectors to keep the car from twisting too bad, then even a strut tower brace. Ideally youd also install at least a 4 point cage too.

RE: need to hook up
1) Subrames
2) Control Arms
3) Tires
4) Shocks/Struts
5) And than work on the rest of your suspension from there. That list though should eliminate alot of your traction issues. Than after that, geat a nice set of 3.73's or 4.10's installed and you can start all over
