Default C-4

Since my transmission is shot, we called around and it's going to be $650 for a rebuild (AOD). But I was looking into Summit and found the TCI is it? C-4 transmissions are around 700-800. Will they bolt directly in to a stock 1990 lx 302?

I'm pretty sure that it will, does it come with a bellhousing? You're going to lose OD though.

+1 Im almost positive you will need a new bellhousing and yes you will loose overdrive. Plus I think you might need a few other small things to make it work. What I would do is, call up Performance Automatic and ask them what exactally you will need to run a C4 and they will tell you and try to sell you the stuff. Hang up and find it elsewhere, or order it from them if you want to.

You got a good price to rebuild your AOD. I would go with that.
It cost me $950 to rebuild my AOD

i maybe stirring a hornets nest but...... i have never used tci so i cant relate on my own experience. however my friend has one in his camaro and has TONS of problems. he says tech support sucks.he has had the trans 2 years now. sent the manual valve body back 3 times. now hes having problems with 2nd gear, can only shift from 1st to 3rd. or downshift from 3rd to 1st. check into it.he says coan or art carr.they sent it back the first time without even looking at it!

no hornets.... it too late in the year lol... anywho if they have problems with one make model i bet its with others... have you looked into lentech automatics at all... give them a call

i believe the c4 is shorter which will require a new drive shaft. and you lose OD. the c4 is only 3 gears.

check out www.ford-aod.com you can get some performance parts at good prices for your tranny

I built my th350 in my prostreet Camaro with some TCI parts and i have the SAME exact problem. Lost second gear, now i can only use 1st and 3rd, when i grab second it just stays in first.
