King Cobra Clutch

RE: King Cobra Clutch
i have a king cobra pressure plate, and use a center force disc, i have a king cobra kit (disc, & pressure plate) and it was hard as hell, then i took it back out and found out that the clutch release bearing retainer (the shaft that the throw out bearing rides on) wear out with normal usage, and mine had a nice wear patern on it, lay it on a table and see if there is any high/low spots in it... replaced it with a steel retainer and it fixed the problem, well atleast for 2k miles when i killed the clutch, and yes i broke in the clutch properly and still killed it in 3k miles

RE: King Cobra Clutch
I had the King Cobra clutch and it was a little stiffer, but it wasn't so hard that I broke cables and stuff. I would check for a bent retainer, they do offer a steel retainer upgrage. Sounds like there is too much resistance causing a hard pedal, but not the clutch itself.

RE: King Cobra Clutch
I'm running a king cobra with a steeda quad/firewall adjuster/cable set-up. I'ts easier than stock. Like someone else suggested, you should check your cable to be sure it's not kinked anywhere. If you're running an old cable set-up with the factory plastic quadrant, I would recomend dumping it for billet and replacing the cable. While you're there, throw some graphite in the cable before you install it. Either way, you shouldn't be having problems with it because of the clutch. Good luck with it[sm=burnout.gif]

RE: King Cobra Clutch
Ive never drove a mustang with a stock clutch, my KC clutch isnt overly hard to push in. Since I have had it I have snapped one cable though. It was a summit brand cable, since then I went with the BBK cable and quadrent and got the firewall adjuster. Didnt make the pedal any easier to push, but it hasnt broke on me either
