transmission getting old?
ok so my '90 5speed has 135,000 miles on it. now i'm having truoble starting from a stop without the car shaking. it seems to be fine early in the day but as the day goes on it gets harder and harder to get going without the shake. It shakes no matter how much gas you give it or how much you let the clutch out, it can always happen with any combination of the pedals. just wondering if anyone has any experience or opinions on this. thanks guys!

I have no real personal experience with manual trannies but maybe try changing the fluid?

Generaly, when your flywheel gets out-of-round you will encounter the "chatter" that you are getting. It's just like you brake rotors when they go south. When you first step on the brakes on a cold morning, everything is cool, but when you drive for about an hour in stop and go traffic they get worse and the brake pedal "chatters".
To fix this problem, you generaly just resurface the flywheel depending on how out-of-round it is or you can buy a billet one, rev up faster and get better performace. Sometimes you have to replace the pressure plate depending on how bad it is. |

i had the car in the shop about 15,000 miles ago for trans problems and it cost like $900. i'm searching for the paperwork right now. i'll let you guys know exactly what i had done when i find it. i'm not sure because i've had the flywheel resurfaced on one of my mustangs but i don't remember which.

yep, flywheel resurface and new presure plate 16,000 miles ago. this sucks! the repairs went out of warranty at 12,000 miles! any suggestions on what to do? i was just looking at new billet flywheels from summit racing. i guess i'll go with that and find a shop. thanks for all your help guys.

to just replace parts check this place out... www.astroperformance.com they have g-force trans parts thatll "beef" it up...
