Default New Noise...

So a new noise has been popping in and out with my car, i have a feeling that it is a exhaust leak around the driverside header...

It sounds kinda like steam coming out of a metal pipe? im not sure how to describe it but it sounds kinda metallic... Also i have a rattle around 2700-3000 rpm while driving normally...

My feelings are its either my cats are junked up or i have a exhaust leak somewhere? or maybe both? but either way they're on my list for swapping out soon, just want to make sure that it IS a exhaust leak...

Does it sound like: tik, tik, tik, tik when you are accellerating? If so you probably pushed out a header gasket. When was the last time you checked the header bolts?

hmm... last time i checked the header bolts... hmm that would be a never...

The thing that confuses me is that it doesnt happen all the time, only like every few days, however it does rattle all the time...

Well it could be that the cats are falling apart inside. When cooled off bang on the cats and see if they rattle. May be a loose heat shield.

I had somthing similar and it ended up that the smog pipe had a small crack in it right about where it connectes to the exhaust, I was only noticable when I hit the gas.

i think im having the same problem. I have a really annoying squealing noise and i already replaced the tensioner, well i took my car to the shop to get my muffler sheilds welded back on and they saw that my headers are missing a bolt. They said that could be the squealing or it is something inside my firewall.
