whats the purpose of using 15w50.. thats pretty heavy right?
It doesnt thin out as much when it gets hot.

Personally, I run nothing but Castrols Syntec 5w50 in damn near every car that I think is worth the extra $$$$ for synthetic. I dont like Mobil1, I just havent had good luck with it, it doesnt seem to be as "slippery" as the syntec I use. I noticed when I ran mobil1 that my car hotter than it did with the syntec, it ran just about as hot as it did with regular oil. Not to mention it seemed to break down faster than the syntec as well.

CASTROL SYNTEC 5W50 FTW!

first with a 10w30 oil you might see a slight 1 maybe 2% increase....15/40 you will most likely see o-1% and straight 30 which is really hard on engines in cold weather a start up you will lose 1-2% hp
if you have a leak than I wouldn't til leak is fixed

Im running 10w30 Royal Purple in my 93 Stang.... runs perfect. Is that a correct weight to run? I have been running that for about 8,000 miles now. No leaks, doesnt burn, etc.

I just swithed to mobil 1 synthetic an i have 91k an it runs excellent!!! No leaks or oil consumption. And it runs alot smoother.
Hey 91LX, was the car using ANY oil before you switched to synthetic? Just curious.
Not sure exactly wut u mean. Do u mean consumption?
Yeah, consumption. Did the oil level on the dipstick ever drop between oil changes--before switching to synthetic?
Nope... and I changed oil about every 3k-4k miles.
