Default RE: Synthetic?

ORIGINAL: mustangchippy90

I have almost 120K miles. But I don't know how synthetic is labelled. it can't be the same a crude can it? I'll go with the Mobil 1 but what weight and all that? is it the same as crude? It's a daily driver that I race on occaision
I wouldn't use anything heavier than 10w30...regardless of what type of oil you use. And I believe (although could be wrong) that synthetic oil is crude oil that is refined differently to make it molecularly (word?) uniform. Someone school me if I'm wrong. Also, keep in mind that if you ever use Lucas Oil, or any other kind of molasses-like oil, your oil will have a higher viscosity than 10w30 (if that's what grade of oil you use).
