Default New to 5L and NOS

Hi all,

I just purchased my first stang (previously a vw guy)
I dont know too much about the car as I bought it off a friend, who bought it off a friends bro....He doesnt really know too much about cars so he doesnt know too much about it
It is an 88 coupe, originally a 4 cyl. Has headers, flowmaster (40s i think), fuel cell and aftermarket pump,Ford racing coil, 4.10s in the rear Weld Draglites w/ skinnies up front. Apparently the intakes been ported and the car does have mass air. It has a cheater NOS kit installed. Since I am new to nitrous I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me, I plan on going to the track within the next couple of weeks so any help would be appreciated.

The nozzle currently has 039 fuel and 058 nos jets in it....What does this equate to in HP? Is it safe to run these jets or should I start smaller and work my way up??
Im not looking for huge power if it means I risk blowing something up!!

Also when doing a pass with NOS when is it safe to activate the NOS?? I know WOT at higher revs but can I do it in all gears??
So far I have run 14.07 @102 but that was on a gtech so Ill have to wait and see the real ##s!!

Thanks

NOS is a manufacturer name, what brand is your nitrous kit?

That's a decent amount of spray there. Assuming your pressure is normal for fuel and Nitrous, you're looking at a 150 shot there,.

I assume he may actualyl have NOS. He said he has a "cheater NOS kit." and NOS does make the "cheater" kits.

The company NOS' jets for a 150 shot is 62 nitrous and 38 fuel.

For my kit, it would be 58 nitrous 34 fuel for a 150 shot. And it would be 62 / 36 for a 175 shot. Of course, fuel jets can vary a little depending on fuel pressure and how rich / lean you may run (or how you tweak it.)

So how would that translate to a NOS kit? Maybe a 125-shot or so?

Thanks for the replies guys

It is a NOS brand Cheater kit that I have in the car.
Sounds like its jetted pretty big! What size jets would I need to be down around a 100 shot??
