whats a roller rocker?

lol i've been reading stuff about engines and try to learn about them... i know a rocker is the arm that pushes on the spring to lower the valves. is roller rocker just the proper term or is there different kinds? and what exactly would i have in my 86?

a roller rocker just basically has a roller tip, to help with less friction and wear on the rocker and valve spring, and a little more power.

Thats a roller tip rocker.

there are also fuller rollers which have the roller tip and a roller main body

so roller rockers are a mod and aren't an option for stock cars or no?

correct stock motors(as far as gts and lx 5.0s) came with regular rocker arms. roller rockers and rocker tips are styles that people put on as modifications
