the cable or the clutch? either way i say you should be able to do it, so long as ya got the right tools.

Its not hard, just remember to release the pressure of the cable you need someone to pull up on the clutch pedal while you slide it off the clutch fork and the rest is just fishing the cable and hooking it under the dash. dont forget the little screw on the firewall at the cable entrance

What do you mean snaps down? Is it clicking/ratcheting down? Go under the car with a 5/16" socket and ratchet and remove the black cover on the drivers side of the bellhousing. See if the cable is still connected or if you can pull the cable out. Your quadrent under the dash may have gone bad if the cable is intact.

If its your quadrant then i suggest getting a aftermarket adjustable one its cheaper and is just as much a pain in the azz to change. The cable is easy, the quadrant sucks
