if you dont exactly know what cam your going to go with, if your wanting kind of high numbers out of the cam is it just safer to run the 1.6 roller rockers. i know the 1.7 will give it a higher lift but still dont completely understand the difference between the two. any responses would help thanks

5.0 mustang and superfords did in article on that. the 1.7 had the most hp but only by 2 but the 1.7 also where out ur valvs faster since it has a higher lift like u said. so if i were u i wood give up those 2 more hp and add some with the 1.6 and not have to worry about ur valves for a while. i have 1.6 and a cranes cam and im happy with it

1.7 rockers will give a little more lift than 1.6, if your building an engine you know exactly how much lift and duration you want - its really best to just go ahead and get the right cam and use 1.6's. 1.7's are a good idea if, for example, you are going to keep the stock cam but want alittle more power outta it or maybe you like the B cam but you want more lift, so you use the 1.7 rockers.

yea see ithink i want to go with a comp extreme energy cam, i think 1300-5600 rpm range sounds really good. 262/270 dur 493/500 lift. or should i go with i higher rpm range like 1600-5800 , 268/280 dur and 509/512 lift. would both of these have a good lopy sound at idle? these sound like good powerbands to me but which one would you guys suggest? and with a 1.6 rocker right?

thoose cams are ground to use 1.6 rocker, ide would go with the the first one the second one would be nice if you had more displacement or torque.

either way you go, make sure you check the piston to valve clearance so you don't run into a problem here. I would go with the 1.6 rocker just to help avoid a PTV problem myself.

niether of those cams seem to address the exhaust side much so this is where ya might want to put the 1.7's on the exhaust

how come nobody sell a 1.6 1.7 rocker kits for fords i have seen then for SBC.
