look at his question.... doy!
I know full well what the valve stem seals do. He's asking about the valves ability to seal in compression.

Hey everyone. How do you check your valve seal. Or how do you check that the valves wont let compression out? How good of a seal does it have to be? I tried checking by blowing into the ports with soapy water around the valves and looking for bubbles. On 3 of my intake valves there is a very slow leak or bubble. What is your experience with this? Let me know anything you know about this. Thanks

RE: Valve Seal Check?
Ok. Sorry that I did not explain my question good enough. threeg502 is right, I am asking about the valves not the valve stems ability to seal. The heads are off my car waiting to be installed on an engine, but I don't know if they are sealing good enough. Anyone have any info on this?

If you have the heads off the motor an easy test is to pour some gas into the ports one at a time.
If no gas leaks out the other side you're all set. If you have lots of leakage, it's a problem and you might need a valve job. If they do leak, tap on the top of the valve stem with a plastic mallet and try again.

+1----------Gas is too thick.
I've also used alcohol for checking valves for the last 35 years, works good.........
If you find small leals, use some Clover compound and a suction cup and see if you can stop the leaks.......

RE: Valve Seal Check?
Just something to think about, but if you have the heads off and are worried, 100 bucks will get you a new valve grind and seals. Might want to look into new springs if you go that way also.
