fastest year?
 

my friend owns an 89GT and he says it will beat all years up to the PI head stangs. is that true? all stock vs. stock

yep ours are actually faster than any stangs besides cobras up to 05! It was a mishap in 89' where they gave us extra high flow intake, heads, and exhaust that was gonna be saved for custom stangs. Theres a secret SC on the 89s as well...sshhhh though dont let anyone else know!;)

From what I've seen, that's true. I drove 8 different Stangs when shopping for one. Out of the eight, 5 were 94-98 models, and they were definitely slower than the foxes...by more than a little bit. Oddly though, my 88 was faster than all of them...that's why I bought it.:D

To be clear, I only drove one 94-95 car...I think it was a 94...and it didn't feel that much slower than a fox. The 4.6s before 99 definitely felt slower than foxes.

i was under the impression that the 86 w/ no power options and higher gears were just about the fastest. not sure how much truth there is to it but ya

That's almost correct. 1987-1993 mustangs are all the same. Foxbody 5.0's are faster then 94-98 mustang GT's.

I have also heard that stock for stock the 86's were about the fastest except for the 93 cobra in the fox bodies. Don't know for a fact though. I know that mine feels pretty strong for a stock car.
