Dumb question...

I was reading the MSD forum, to help troubleshoot my prob...and got me curious. Could a loose or disconnected tach wire cause a car not to start? i read if you need a adaptor and its not connected properly it could cause this..being the msd ignition computer cant read the signal. But if you dont need a adaptor or whatever could it cause this?????

I ran my MSD without a tach for a long time, i dont think that would casue it not to start. Check for a loose connection elsewhere, those boxes are touchy

Did the car ever run with the MSD?

yeah the car ran fine with the MSD. Was just curious about this thats all. To me it seemed strange reading about how a disconnected tach wire will cause the car not to run, when your running a MSD ignition.

RE: Dumb question...

You do not need the MSD tach adapter. Your tach will work without it. If the car wont start disconnect the MSD box and plug your coil back in and see if it will start. That is assuming you have the MSD installation harness that plugs between your coil and your factory harness. If the car starts with the MSD disconnected then the box or its wiring is bad. If it wont start after disconnecting the box you have other problems with the car not the box.
