Quick Question. I baught a speedo gear for my automatic 93 GT. I was told to get a WHITE 23 tooth speedo gear for a set of 3.90's. Now my question is, I got it in the mail the other day but it was black. Does it make a difference? I got it from Downs Ford here in Jersey and I tried calling them but noone is ansering their phones so I decided to post here in the mean time. The speedo gear they sent me is a 23 tooth but its black and not white.... any comments?
Adder... yes I counted them lol Thats why I am just wondering if there is a difference between a 5spd and a auto speedo gear.

there is no difference, however it will still be off, because the auto isnt designed with a removeable drive gear, so you get stuck with the Jeep part, 23 tooth gear

Do you think the chart would be the same for Steeda's speedo gears? Or are steeda's speedo gears also from Ford?
As far as I know a speedo gear is a speedo gear, steeda might color em differently.

I thought there was a difference between manual and auto. There is a link to a chart on the FRPP site.

your confusing yourself with what he means by a "difference"

Auto and manual both use the same gears, the only difference is that the auto has the drive gear machined into the output shaft of the transmission, whereas a manual transmission has a removeable plastic drive gear

Ok now I am confused. The part that I got is a little two inch plastic black gear. From how you are explaining it, it sounds like I have the wrong thing. Is this correct?
