Default What to do on my budget?

Hey guys this is the first time ever posting. I have a 1994 gt and am looking to make some more power for my stang over theses winter and early spring months. I purchased my car and still currently has mac longtubes, straight pipes with mac mufflers, k&n air filter without the stock air box, msd wires, coil, cap and a fuel pressure regualator. I have a budget of $1200. i have done alot of reseach on parts but i dont really know what would be best for my car. I would appreciate any suggestions Thanks Bob

Welcome to MF. There are a ton of starting mod threads. But your gonna wanna start with suspension. But if you stuck on go-parts a set of gears is a good place to start. Is the car an auto or stick?

Will you be doing the work yourself or do you have to take it to a shop? If youre going to do it yourself, the BEST place to start is with cylinder heads, $ for $ thats where youll make the MOST power. People will tell you to get gears and other bullsh!t, DONT! Get the engine to the power range you want it to be then get gears, etc. When your engine pushes A LOT more power you wont need as steep of a gear that people will recommend. Other than that get some subframe connectors, those are definitly a MUST, itll keep the car from twisting up like a pretzel when you do get some serios power to it.

Here ya go

Granted youll need the other parts to do the install, but that should cost over another $200 AT MOST.

Those fit into his budget, and come on all he'll really need to do this install is an upper end gasket set, probably under $100. TFS makes nice heads and always has, I know youre going to tell me some BS that AFR's are better, but they cost more (for that price difference I can find you some TFS heads thatll flow just as well). And the tests Ive seen where they test AFR, they ALWAYS use a non-stock cam and try to claim that its stock, so therefore those tests are BULLSH!T.

I dont like afr's either, look into TF's High Port line, bigger valves, bigger CC chamber a better head design!

you guys are whackjobs [8D] ...trick flow makes great heads, but yes AFRs are a tiny bit better. regardless, who the heck slaps on some heads as a first mod? (especially on a budget). H/C/I should should be done all at the same time IMO. first mods should always be full exhaust/gears/bumped timing/good set of tires and a little bit of suspension work.

Yeah those are the originals. Theyre badass, you used to be able to get em in cast iron . And in 3 valve setups 1.96's,2.02's and 2.08's. My buddy has a set of the .196's and he runs 12.50 in a '85 GT T-top with the a/c on, on street tires with a 3.55 gear. Not bad I'd say.
