Default typhoon/gt40

the gt 40 intake seems to cost more, is it worth the extra money? will i notice a better gain? or will it not be worth it? the typhoon intake seems to look better i think, because its smaller, but the typoon seems to only put out better numbers than the cobra at like 6k, i dont let my car go past 5k... so would the gt 40 be a better setup..... i see a gt 40 on ebay, out of a 96 exploror 302 ho... if i had that ported out would that be a real gt 40 setup? or is there different ones? any ?'s answerd would be nice, thanks

i would like to know the same but i want a trickflow, im pretty sure they have better flow numbers than the gt-40 and around 400$ so good bang for the buck. but if you can get one real cheap and you can do the port work yourself that might be a good investment if your on a very limited budget, otherwise id suggest an aftermarket manifold. and remember porting isnt that hard if you have the right tools but very time consuming. i bought a used stock HO manifold of ebay for cheap and bought a tool and the bits(which can get pricy) and after about 30 min on one port of about 32 ports on upper and lower manifolds i said f**k that. very tedious and very very time consuming, plus if you do it yourself you run the risk if porting into a water jacket and at that point you might as well just throw it away. hope this helped your decision

I heard that the best intake for the money is the systemax II intake. It's around $560.00 but it's worth it.
In one of my old MM&fast fords mags it said that BBK(i believe it was bbk)was coming out with an intake and it comes with the fuel rails as well. Does anyone remember what month that was?It said retail price was $499.00.
Now thats worth looking into.

Well I just got one and I have my car all apart and now i came to a problem with the Ford Racing Aluminum GT-40 Intake Manifold.

Alright well I just bought a Ford Racing GT-40 Intake Manifold and I took off everything but now i am seeing that for the vaccuum lines on the bottom of the stock intake has 4 outlets on the bottom and then two holes right under the fold over on the intake manifold. But then the GT-40 has only two and the two holes. See pictures below. I dont know what the hell is wrong i mean it is a ford product made by ford. Nothing goes right when you work on these Mustangs I tell ya. Well if you guys know about anything to do i could use any help. (Went to Mustangs Unlimited and asked about it and they gave me the number for Ford Racing) I am just going to have to rig somethin up i guess but if I could get some help then it would be great!!!
Thanks!!!

Pics
1st one is of the Stock Intake Manifold, 2nd is of the bottom of the GT-40 Intake Manifold, 3rd and 4th are of the left and right side where the two side outlets are and then you have the two holes on the bottom of the fold.

Other then that i love the way it looks and it is very light i will tell you when I get it on about the whole power change.

I saw that one too. Its on BBK's website...if it performs half as good as it looks, its
worth it...still have not seen it in summit racing though...

but chances are if its on bbk's website, you can probably have your local performance
store order one for you.....

yea i thought the bbk is a short runner intake though, you need the long runners for good torgue in the low rpm range, i know im not going into 6,500 rpm's anytime soon though. i say im still sticking with the trickflow though, about 160$ cheaper and only maybe a few h.p less than the systemax 2. ill use that extra money to buy a shifter or something. you probably have the make up h.p in converting the mechanical fan to an electric one, that god da*n mechanical fan that thing is such a pain in the ****.

Yes and no, its a copy of the edelbrock intake that needs to be ported to be the same as the edelbrock because of the flash and metal shavings from the molds.
