RE: T-5 rumors / questions
i answered this in another post... it's because they are the all mighty magical unbreakable tranny... lol what shifter mount does a fox use? the middle i think, pretty sure the "basterd child" uses the one behind that... and i know hanlon has 2 seperate ones they sell thay just don't advertise it... thats the reason for having to specify year of the vehicle when they are ordered...
and if you are trying to suggest that the input shafts are not actualy different i have seen both input shafts side by side and the fox is indeed 5/8 " shorter

if the 87-93 t-5 has a different input length than the 94-95, how come the tko isnt specific 94-95 because of the length difference

RE: T-5 rumors / questions
have u seen a helicut gear? they are like removing dog teeth in a way... they have a big gap between the teeth (helps with easier engagement at high rpm)

the only real upgrades for the t-5 are the g-force stuff and there gears are helicut I believe which is the angle I think so that could be something you look for

RE: T-5 rumors / questions
identical, it's a common misconseption i can to ask my teacher about that the other day cu i read that someplace
edit: i take that back i think some of them might of had different gear ratios, not 100% i'll check on that tomarrow in class.
ps. is anyone needs documents from michell (computer service manual) i can print them and mail them for a cheap price i'm thinking 10 or 20 cents a page plus like 50 cents to cover my shipping costs ie. stamps and envelopes

RE: T-5 rumors / questions
i'm not sure if the tko just uses a diff. shifter location, or if it's just that people don't advertise that the tranny is year specific i'll call hanlon tomarrow and find you a deffinate answer... the only reason the input shaft was different on the t-5 was so the shifter would line up with the hole in the floor, it's easier to take the tranny 5/8 " longer than to move the whole body 5/8" forward with you moving the engine lol, you can swap the input shafts and bell housing "simple" well if you have a rough idea of what you are doing

Exactly how strong is the t5? I don't plan on running like 400hp but I've heard of people breaking them on stock engines. Are they really that weak or do the people using them not know how to drive or are they driving it too hard? The reason I ask is that i'm thinking about doing the aod to t5 swap and I don't want it to break after I do it. I will be doing a rebuild on it but it will be a stock rebuild. I just want to know if a stock t5 can handle launches on DR's with a bolt on engine?

a stock t-5 is rated at 500 hp... and the only way i know of to find out what gears are in there are open it up and count the teeth on each gear... the stronger gears are generaly a longer gear than the stock ones, other than counting the teeth i would ask for a reciept for the parts/ labor done

There is a difference in the t-5 and the wc T5 that was used 87+. T5 had 2.95 1st gear and tq rating of 250-270, can't remember off-hand. The WC T5 has a 3.35 1st gear and 300 lb-ft tq rating.
