what to do with $6000
okay... Ive been reading everything on this site about crate or rebuild posts...
I talked to 2 different machine performance shops and they both quoted me 6000 for a engine build and 2000 for labor. What i cant decide is should i get the GT40 crate motor or figure out somthing else. everyone seems to say crate is a waste of money and that i can get a better motor for cheaper.
I have 6000 bucks for a new motor that i would like to be my daily driver (90' LX vert) and i have no idea what to buy. i got a 4000 dollar budget and my mechanic said i pick the parts and he will install them for 2000. please help me out!

Buy a D.S.S. Long block and swap the motors. You can get a long block for around $5000. Shouldnt be $2000 to swap a engine, if it is find a new mechanic. www.dssracing.com

do not get a crate motor. over priced. and if you have the time build it your self, unless you need it soon. otherwise to it your self and learn a thing or two, and you'll be pleased. heck, stick a 351w in that bad boy! or turbo it or something. with 6k you can do a bunch of stuff. good luck on deciding!

sorry for the double post, but just to clarify when i say crate motor don't buy one thats all the way put together, like one from ford or something. you can build something better with the money.
