i did a tko 600 swap from my t-5 ordered a TKO600 mcleod bellhousing, 26 spline mcleod DF clutch, and a FRPP al DS, did not need a new x-member prolly would make it easier though, had to grind welds off to make it slide and then weld em back up ,, this was on my 89 vert

Look into G-force. It uses the T5 shell and bell, just new guts. You can upgrade them to handle whatever you can throw at them.... It will end up being cheaper. Astroperformance.com has a deal right now that includes the tranny, 28-spline clutch kit and shipping for $2k. Great deal if you ask me....

My favorite part about them is that the kit comes w/ a 2.95 1st gear and a .59 5th gear. That helps launches and MPG in a major way if you have steep gears......

that really intriques me, I'm really considering doing that. I have a 3.35 1st gear though, wouldnt a 2.95 gear make the launch worse for me? I'd love the .59 5th gear though...

No. Think of it as going back to 2.73's on the rear end. It's a numerically lower ratio so it won't rev up quite as fast. Granted it's not a whole lot lower, but the .59 5th gear is my favorite part. I'd love to be cruising at 70mph w/ 4.10's and only at ~2k rpms.....

I've got the Zspec right now and am higher than 2k w/ my 3.55's. I think the OD is .68 in the Zspec and WC T5.....

ummm do you know what your talking about? i put a t-56 viper spec. in a fox for friend, if they didn't fit they wouldn't sell kits for them http://www.ddperformance.com/T56%20Kits.htm , i hate stupid people that have no idea what they are talking about

exactly, usually a numerically lower ratio (higher gear) is worse for coming off the line, thats why people put gears in their car. If you mean better as in you have a longer first gear then yeah, but i went with 3.55s so i still have a 1st gear now, with the new tranny it would be a taller first which wouldnt come out of the hole as well...
