mine cut off after a hour or two of driving let it sit the cats would cool down and it would run fine i had bad 02s which caused them to clog

RE: plugged cat, how do u tell??
my cats actually blew open on my e350 van when they clogged up....[>:]. That was the only time I have actually had them "clog" up on me. Generally when your cats go the honecomb starts falling apart inside. But yea you should be able to hear it if it starts falling apart in there.

RE: plugged cat, how do u tell??
When there clogged normally you will have trouble reving over 2500rpm-3500rpm. There could be bucking, glowing red cats. Cats don't normally just clog themselves unless they break apart. Normally when a cat gets clogged something else is wrong.

RE: plugged cat, how do u tell??
put your hand over the exhaust pipe and have someone rev it. the rev should be sluggish and bucking, and the exhaust flow should be very little to none.

RE: plugged cat, how do u tell??
if theres none than you have a major problem because that means you had to have blown something for it to leak out somewhere else.
