fog light/head light probelm
a buddy of mine has an 88' GT and we just installed new fog lights in. the problem is when the fog lights are on for a little while the head lights flashs and then turn off by themselves. They do come back on but only after a while. He said that he also had this problem with the stock fog lights way back, but never figured it out. any ideas??

I have the same problem.... if i drive with my HeadLights and FogLights on together, after about 10 minutes the lights start flashing and turn off...
why is this ? and what can i do about it as well.

RE: fog light/head light probelm
thats kind of what i thought. so the switch being the actual switch that you hit to turn them on, if we replace that and the relays with some higher wattage ones we should be good?
if this helps, the fog lights currently on the car take a H4 bulb, they are really bright!
EDIT: oh and also, were are the relays for an 88' GT located? anyone know of where to get and how much a new switch and relays would be??

RE: fog light/head light probelm
I have an 87 and it did the same thing. After researching it, I found out its a common problem. Ford put too small guage wire in the 87-88 headlight and fog lights. And too small of a relay. I am not sure where the relay is. If you get a Chilton manual, it will tell you. Or, maybe someone elso on here can tell you. The way I fixed my problem is, I got one of the ashtray switch plates and re ran a set of wires from my fog lights to a 25 Amp toggle switch in that panel.
