the trak loc rear end distributes power to the left side when the right side slips. an easy way to tell if your rear end is TRULY POSI, when you take low speed turns, in parking lots and such, the rear end actually HOPS because the tire to the side of the turn is actually turning at a faster speed than the outside tire. trak-loc rear ends dont do that

ya i was originally a chevy guy so im just used to calling it posi, even though i know its officially t-lock. its kinda like everyone calling "tissues" "kleenex." everyone knows what you're talking about, theres no reason to be an *** and correct people EVERY time someone says it

trak lock is a sales term anyhow. Parts department and the tag on the diff will say limited slip. Just like roll stability control is renamed IVD (interactive vehicle dynamic) for the sales guy. Either way, your "posi" is the ability for the rear end to turn both wheels in a slip event rather than just one.
Speaking of stock 8.8 limited slip..... Anyone ever get a one-wheel when hammering on it in a right hand turn ONLY? It grabs both any other time and I can get it to swing sideways when turning right as long as I am not flogging it. I know why this happens but don't know if it is due to my used s spring, .015 less shimming, the fact that I didn't soak my clutches, or my stiff springs and 245/45/17 nitto 555 drag radials. I think the tires just overpower the clutches, Any opinions?

I was wondering how you know if you have a 8.8" rearend. I was looking toward swapping a 3.73 gear into it, but I'm not sure which to buy.
I'm pretty sure it's the stock 94' GT rear. Also, where is the best place to buy a whole - newly built rear diff.

If you have the stock rear than its an 8.8. It should be tagged anyway.
Also, you CAN buy a new rear but I wouldnt. You can get a used rear with gears already installed for 1/4 of the price it would cost for you to buy the rear and put it in.
