Default Bad water pump?

Does anyone know a good way to test your water pump? I was driving the other day and for no reason what so ever my car starting overheating. It had been running fine, and no cooling problems, or leaks. I let it cool down to drive it home, and i almost got home and it did it again. WTF? I just dont want to tear it down, and put a new pump on if it doesnt need one

I would suspect the t-stat before the pmp if there is no leak.

Thats what i would think also, but the t-stat is brand new. Installed with the HCI, the water pump is old though

well after the HCI swap it ran fine, no cooling issues what so ever. Was driving the other day and noticed at a stop light steam coming from under the hood. i quickly pulled over and noticed it was comign from the overflow tube. I let it cool down, and filled up the radiator, drove back home, and almost got there and it started boiling over again. No leaks, or previous problems. Also, since the HCI swap my low coolant light has stayed on, no matter if it was full or empty, and the temp. gauge hasnt worked.

First thing you need to do is get the temp gauge workin' so you know what's goin' on. Sensor in the over flow bottle may be bad keepin' the low coolant light on.

Is that where the sensor is? Yeah the G/F is getting some autometer gauges for me, I was trying to hold out for x-mas, but they may have to come early.

Yeah the low coolant sensor is in the bottle attached to the cap.

sounds like something went wrong with the HCI swap. maybe an upsidedown head gasket.
