I took off the clutch quadrant, heres what it looks like.

The other part that it goes with also was worn down.. I'm going to replace it and see if it fixes my problem.

Yah, all the problems you mentioned is due to the quadrant. Even the problem with the shifting to 2nd prior to it completely failing. It was hard to shift because the quadrant was not disengaging the clutch all the way and that makes shifting to certain gears very hard.

I also would recommend an aftermarket aluminum quadrant, will never wear down on you. It makes the pedal action slightly harder, but it releases quicker, better for performance driving.

NICE pics! THose teeth look bad. Throw that thing away. YEa get the fire wall adjustable kit. The pedal feel is a little harder but when you release the clutch it comes up fast so you can shift quick.

hey man i was kinda having a problem with my clutch, it was slipping a little and was hard to push down. So this guy that works on transmissions who is my friend told me to just use the tip of the clutch and push it down with the car off, and then move your foot fast and let it slam back up. takes 1 minute and it might work it might not, it worked for me. Now my clutch is back to normal

Yeah, this part was just made plain old stupid.. ford must of been high or something while designing this clutch system..

But yeah, the aftermarket alloy one works perfect, smoothest shifting my car ever has seen! lol.

I think it worked well for what it waswhen it was original...it was self adjusting by pulling up on the pedal. They shouldn't have made an adjusting part w/ teeth out of plastic though.....they had to know it would crap out at some point....
