i just picked up a 86 mustang and nomatter what i do it runs like crap it has like no power and it misses at idle i have put new plugs and wires set timing set the tps at .97 i have checked all vacum lines.i did notice that the car doesnt have cat converters im not shure why

yea pull codes, see where you stand. tell us what they say and then we can help ya a lil more... what your describing could be a number of things... codes will narrow it down alot. but just off what your saying, im guessing its in your fuel delivery... either your pump is ****ed up, injectors need cleaned, etc

the codes i got where 34 egr valve position sensor or pressure feedback voltage high or sensor fault and 67 a/c on during koeo or nuetral driveswitch open or manual lever position sensor out of range or nuetral my a/c wasnt on so not shure and nuetral safty switch is new and 23 tps sesor out of range but i think at one time i forgot to hook back the wires after i replaced it

Had a similiar problem with my 86' as well, but my problem was that when the car sat in hot/humid weather it would not idle, it would miss, and it would dump a ton of raw fuel out the exhaust. I checked codes, replaced O2 sensors, egr, etc. But in the end my computer was bad. Replaced it and never had another problem. Good luck.

i got an 86 also and it ran like **** when i got it i just splashed some injector cleaner and radiator flush and it cleaned everything out nicley runs like new (after a good tune up)

Jeez, mine only idles high. Wish I could help. Glad to see some 86's though. We all know how much they mean to us.[X(] so beautiful!!!

does yours idle high all the time or just when you first start mine revs sorta high on start up then it seems fine fore about 30 seconds to a minute then you can feel and hear a small miss i like this car but its a pain
