heads question

Ok guys, heres my question, I bought afr 225 heads to go on my 347, i have trickflow R intake port matched now. 24# injectors, 75mm maf 70mm TB, custom cam for those heads and 1.7 RR.

My father keeps telling me my heads are over flowing, they are too big for my set up, whats ya think? I dont plan to juice it or boost it ( \ 11:1 CR). You guys think i went to big? I didnt think it was possilbe to get tooo big of heads....

too big.... sell or send them back... you want 205's MAX

RE: heads question

ya theyre probably over flowing. the low end will suffer so you're going to have to rap it out pretty high. forced induction would be helpful, but w/ that compression its not real feasible.

RE: heads question

When i talked to AR Fabrication(local place near me) they recommended me to the 225s with my set up, so im down to sending them back or doing FI?

** Would this also be why my car doesnt start really picking up till after 3k rpm?

RE: heads question

that would be a big part of it. also depends on your cam and intake, but oversized heads are a major factor. mine does the same thing. not much under like 3k, but it pulls like a train after that

RE: heads question

after 3k its like takes off like a bat out of H..L I'm just curious, for a non-FI what kind of head would you recommend, i think my pops may by these heads from me to put on his car that he is building. like how many CC chambers?, intake and exhaust? I guess when i buy new 1s i was thinking 64CC chambers, 1.94intake and 1.54exhaust? would that be tooo small now?

RE: heads question

some 205s or 185s maybe

RE: heads question

is there anything comparable to the 185s or 205s in other brand besides AFR, i mean i know there is but dont know where to start looking. I got the 225s from a friend with -8-miles on them for 1 goood good deal and I don't think i could come up with the cash for a set of brand new 205s :D

+1. on a 347 225's are way over kill.. i think 185's would be your best bet.

RE: heads question

since your already at 11:1 compression, try to keep with a small combustion chamber, it'll keep your compression up.

185cc would be nice... 205 would be the absolute biggest i would ever go

There are a set of aluminum heads on ebay right now for like $799, they are made by Renegade. 190cc... flow really decent too
