Ya the 5-speeds came with 3:08 and the autos came with 3:27.

Yeah, I want to get either 3.55's or 3.73's. But college and having money have nothing in common

Rear gears were an option so its not always true to say what a certain combo came with. Check the sticker as mentioned above. My car is an '85 5.0 5 spd Vert with 2.73's, so that defies an earlier answer.

My car turns less than 2000 at 70mph so it sure sounds like you might have 2.73's as well.

3.27's were available only in aod's

actually the way it went, and seems so stupid i can't imagine why 3.08's were even an option. but.....

2.73 was the standard gear for all 5.0's
3.08 was the optional "performance" gear
3.27 was just another option to unslug the aod , so you actually had 2 options w/ an aod to choose for another gear. i bet someone out there has an aod w/ 3.08's in it.

Just get it up on the highway, hit 80mph and see where you are

1900 rpms - 2.73's
2200 rpms - 3.08's
2350 rpms - 3.27's
2500 rpms - 3.55's
2650 rpms - 3.73's

And his car doesn't have stock wheel/tires so that formula wouldn't be 100% accurate. Door tag and wheel/drive shaft turn method are the most accurate. His wheels and tire are bigger so he's going to be turning lower rpms (and mph) than stock)

Or maybe their not [&:] Was your car originally a GT or LX? Are those 5 stars 16" or 17"?

sometimes you have to "bend" the rules to get it done

other times you do it just for amusement , and hopefully have a camera sitting in the backseat from the graduation party the night b4 and it makes so much more worth it.......
