millage?
Alright, it has been a while since I've been on here but I have started my serch again for a mustang. I've always been one to look for good projects and what not, and recently a 95 GT crossed my path. It has a little damage, but it's nothign structural. My questioin is how do these cars run at high miles? The car has about 160,000 on it. Most of the miles were highway driving. I have not driven it yet, but I plan on driving it in the next week. It is a 5 speed, so I will be able to see if the clutch is loose or what not. But do the miles scare anyone? Other than the damage the car looks good, and the owner said he has always taken care of it. What else should I check out on the car? Are there any problem areas?
Thanks. Eric

RE: millage?
dont buy it, for two reasons, one the car has damage, and a real car enthusiast regardless of brand/make/model would have fixed it, also the miles aren't crazy high but again, i dont get the feeling the guy actually took care of it, how often was the oil changed how are the fluids, is the motor really clean? how often was it tuned up, what mods, etc. also without a price and pics its really hard to judge, try to post some pics and we can better judge[&:]

RE: millage?
The guy who owned it was not mechanically inclined. If the car had problems he would take it in to a shop to have it checked out. I am not sure how clean the fluids are, next time I'm looking at the car I will check. He told me the oil was changed close to every 3,000 and he had regular tune ups done on it. The engine bay is pretty clean, it's not like he just washed it out or anything, he said he didn't because he wanted to show whoever was going to buy it the real car, not a cleaned up verision. I like that because I can see the engine, and whats wrong with it, if anything. As of now, I do not have any pictures, but the damage is done to the front bumper/lights. I would need to get new lights, bumper cover, and possibly a hood. The front fenders are great, no dents/rounded corners. The asking price is about 2,800.

RE: millage?
I would avoid it personally.
I may be picking up a 86 vert pretty soon. funny thing is, im not going to be keeping it for very long. I'm gonna register it, then sell it.
I'll probably be looking for about 2k.. IF i get the car

he never said the guy was an enthusiast, it doesnt take an enthusiast to take care of a car. if he has all of his maintenance records i would say go for it. they run forever, it probably burns some oil, but thats very common.
