im buying a 87 off of my friend. the body is in great shape, but the engine and transmission is out of the car. he has a 302 and a t5 transmission that is going with the car. would it be better to see if he will just sell the car. i dont know if i should put a crate motor (302, 351) or just rebuild the engine and transmission. please help me on this one, not sure what would be the best and or cheapest way about it.

well i didnt know what would be cheaper... i heard a site called proformanceunlimited has ready to drop in crate motors. should i go with something like that cause i dont even know where to start, on the rebuild that is... heads, cam, and what not. im not sure what would be a good set up i dont want to just put parts together and hope things work.

A crate engine would be a great idea. It would save alot of headach in the long run it you are pretty new to alot of this.
