Default 3.55 rear end gear???

i have decided on 3.55's because my stang is a daily driver for long distances (bout 70 miles each way) and 3.55's are still a big step up from the stock 2.73's in my 95, i was wondering, i can only pay bout 120-130 on the gears, where should i buy them? and what about the install kit? and last how much will i be looking at when i have a mechanic put them in? thx

Most places charge $500 installed including the cost of the gears.

make sure you get the Ford Racing gears, the 3.55's are actually made with a new and better machining process too.

are you sure u have 2.73s? i thought i had them and was gonna go w. 3.55s then discovered i have a stock 3.08...so im gonna go 3.73. i suggest you concider 3.73s, im in the same boat as you, hour to class, hour back, half hour to work, half back, etc.... so i hear ya w. milage... but imo you might be happyer w. the 3.73s. heres a link i got(from a thread on this site), its based on a new stang but all the same ideas apply, just pretend evertime they say 4.10s there sayin 3.73s... gear info...click

go for the 3.55's man, you won't regret it. I love my 3.55's much more than 3.73's. If you've got 40 series flows 5th gear on the highway should put you right in the sweet spot and your car will sound mint

I have 3.73 and I still pull 20-24 MPG. I drive 60 miles highway. At 80mph I am running right around 2800rpms.

A install kit(shims, bearings) will cost you around $110, then about $10 to $30 for fluids (depending on what you get) and friction modifier. You also might want to look into redoing your traction loc (about $50) I have ford racing gears and they work good with no noise.
