Default transmission in fox body for 1/4 mile

I have to say, I don't like 5 speed cars for 1/4 mile racing. But maybe thats just me. I find them to give inconsistent times.

Would not a C4 be better for strip? I am considering doing a T5 to C4 conversion in a 90 GT. Am I crazy? It seems like everyone wants to go the other way.

I'm sure the pieces could be rounded up to do the job, although, finding a 5.0L automatic might be a bit of a challenge.

Opinions would be appreciated.

you are correct in saying they are inconsistent, but thats only if your an inconsistent driver. automatics are the standard for extreme dragging, usually under 9 seconds. most people leave they're cars standard because they are more fun to drive, but an auto is better for competition dragging.

go w/ the c4, c4s are a great tranny. they can handle tons of power, theyre cheap, simple, and they only have 3 gears. then again it depends on how much you're driving on the street, you may not get the best gas mileage.

You can make either one go just as fast as the other, it's up to you.
